Mr. Christopher Ray currently serves as the Senior Military Science Instructor for the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Army ROTC Program, supporting Freshman and Sophomore cadets.

Mr. Ray was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma, and raised in Moore, Oklahoma. He graduated from Troy University in 2023 with a bachelor’s degree in American/European History and minors in Psychology and Military Operations. He retired from the United States Army after 25 years of active-duty service (November 1999 – June 2025) as a Military Police Soldier.

Mr. Ray completed One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, with Delta Company, 795th Military Police Battalion. His first assignment was with the 89th Military Police Brigade, 720th Military Police Battalion, 402nd Military Police Company, where he served as a gunner and driver. He later served with the 410th Military Police Company at Fort Hood, Texas, as a driver and team leader.

He was then assigned to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), 3rd Brigade Combat Team, and later to the 16th Military Police Brigade, 716th Military Police Battalion, 551st Military Police Company, Fort Campbell, Kentucky, serving as a Team Leader and Squad Leader. Following this, Mr. Ray served in United States Army Japan with the 88th Military Police Detachment at Camp Zama, holding positions as Platoon Sergeant, DES Operations NCOIC, Detachment Sergeant, and USAR-J Battalion S-3 NCOIC.

Mr. Ray’s next assignment was in United States Army Garrison – Europe as a Senior Desk Sergeant, Operations NCO, Military Police Investigations NCOIC, Traffic Collision Investigation NCO, and Detachment Sergeant in Hohenfels, Germany. He later served with the 84th Chemical Brigade, 1st Battalion, 48th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood as a Senior Drill Sergeant and Operations NCO, followed by service at the Maneuver Support Center of Excellence (MSCoE) NCO Academy as the S-3 NCOIC.

He returned to the 89th Military Police Brigade and served in the 720th Military Police Battalion, holding assignments in the 410th, 401st, and 411th Military Police Companies as a Platoon Sergeant and Operations NCOIC. Mr. Ray’s final assignment was with the 500th Military Police Detachment as the First Sergeant and later with the Special Troops Battalion at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, as the S-3 NCOIC.

Throughout his career, Mr. Ray conducted five combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation Inherent Resolve, along with three non-combat deployments to Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the Republic of Korea.

Mr. Ray is a graduate of numerous military schools, including Basic and Advanced Individual Training, Hazmat Certifier Course, Field Sanitation, Nuclear/Biological Response Course, Special Reaction Team Phases I & II, Traffic Investigation, Military Police Investigations, Gang Activity Investigations, Drug Suppression Investigations, Domestic Violence Intervention, Law Enforcement and Army Sniper Courses, Master Marksmanship Training Course, Battle Staff Course, Drill Sergeant School, Basic and Advanced Anti-terrorism Officer Courses, SHARP Foundations Course, Equal Opportunity Advisor Course, and the Personal Security Detachment Course. His leadership education includes PLDC, BNCOC, SLC, and the First Sergeant Course.

Mr. Ray’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal (3rd Award), Good Conduct Medal (8th Award), Army Commendation Medal (6th Award), Army Achievement Medal (11th Award), Global War on Terrorism Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal (3rd Award), Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Joint Humanitarian Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 4), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2nd Award), Korean Defense Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (8th Award), National Defense Service Medal, and the Army Service Ribbon.

Mr. Ray is married to Norma Ray. They have three children. Katrina, Kellen, and Kaitlin and two grandchildren, Amelia and Mason.
