MAJ David Harper was born in Beatrice, NE. He graduated from Beatrice High School in 1997 and received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Wayne State College in 2007, a Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State College in 2012, and a Masters in Operational Studies from Fort Leavenworth, MO in 2023.
MAJ Harper’s military career began upon his enlistment in February 1997 with C Troop, 167th CAV in Beatrice. He served 12 years as an enlisted Soldier prior to attending Officer Candidate School. MAJ Harper graduated OCS in August of 2010 and served as the 67th BFSB HHD Rear Detachment Commander. He attended Transportation Officer Basic Course and graduated in November 2011. He attended Logistics Officer Advanced Course and graduated in May 2015. MAJ Harper recently completed resident Command and General Staff Officer Course in June 2023.
MAJ Harper’s assignments include: Platoon Leader 1075th Transportation Company, Executive Officer 1075th Transportation Company, Plans Officer for the Training Branch of the Joint Forces Headquarters (JFHQ-G3), and TAC Officer for OCS. His full-time duties have included Rear Detachment Officer for the 67th BFSB, Training Officer for the J-5/7, Officer in Charge (OIC) for the NE-CERFP, State Physical Security Officer, Joint Operations Center (JOC) OIC, S1 Officer 209th Training Regiment (RTI), State Maintenance Manager (JFHQ-G4), and S4 Officer 92nd Troop Command. He was mobilized as an enlisted Soldier with the 167th CAV in 2001 to Kuwait and 2003 to Bosnia-Herzegovina.
MAJ Harper’s awards include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal with bronze oak leaf, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with ‘M’ device, Army Service Ribbon, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and NATO Medal. He also has several National Guard military awards.
MAJ Harper resides in Roca, NE with his wife, Laci and children Hadley, Hannah, Jackson, and Logan.
