Master Sergeant Barber is a native of Lakeview, Oregon. He enlisted in the Army under the Delayed Entry Program and entered One Station Unit Training (OSUT) at Ft. Knox, KY as a 19D Cavalry Scout in March 2008. He has served in every leadership position from Team to Operations Sergeant Major. His duty assignments include Korea; Fort Carson, CO; Fort Knox, KY; Fort Benning GA; and Fort Hood, TX, Fort Riley, and the University of Nebraska. MSG Barber will PCS 2 August 2024 to attend the Sergeant Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Tx. He has participated in deployments to Korea, Iraq, Afghanistan, and rotations to Europe.

MSG Barber military education includes Raven Operator, Battlefield Forensics Course, Master Fitness Trainer, Tactical Certification Course, Small Group Instructor Course, Master Resilience Training, Equal Opportunity Course, Bradley Commander Course, Sharp Foundations Course, Combat Advisor Training Course, Basic Leaders Course, Advanced Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Master Leader Course. MSG Barber also possesses a bachelor's degree in health and sciences with a concentration in health and wellness.

MSG Barber is married to the former Cristi L. Wilson and has two children, Lillian (10), and Maddox (7).
